Add a co-owner contact or update an existing contact, then link it to the correct primary owner. This relationship is used to associate the co-owner with the primary owner in the reporting workflow.
Use accurate contact details
If the co-owner already exists, update that contact. Do not create a duplicate or invent an email address to get around a duplicate-contact message.
Check for an existing contact
- Open Contacts and search for the co-owner using their email address or name.
- If the contact exists, open its profile for editing. Check the contact details before changing its type or linked owner.
- If the contact is already classified as a co-owner, choose the correct primary owner from the owner-link dropdown and save.
- If it is an existing owner contact that needs to be treated as a co-owner, select the co-owner option, choose the correct primary owner from the dropdown, and save.
Add a new co-owner contact
- Go to Contacts > Add Contact.
- Select Co-Owner as the contact type.
- Enter the person’s accurate contact details and any required reporting information. For a company, check the company details and company type fields shown in your account.
- Save the contact, then open its profile for editing.
- Select the correct primary owner in the owner-link dropdown and save again.
Verify the relationship
Reopen the co-owner profile and confirm that it is classified as a co-owner and linked to the intended primary owner. If the relationship is needed for a report, check that the co-owner appears under that primary owner in the relevant reporting view.
The co-owner link associates contacts for reporting; it does not by itself change a property’s owner, set ownership percentages or create a split bank payment. To assign a property owner, use Link a property to an owner. For a new primary owner contact, see Add owner records.
