Set an owner contact to Inactive when it should no longer appear in normal active selections. This preserves the existing contact and associated records for reference.
Check outstanding work before making an owner inactive
Review their properties, held funds, unpaid amounts and final reports first. Changing contact status does not settle a balance, transfer a property to a new owner or reverse a payment.

Make an owner contact inactive
- Go to Contacts > Owners and find the owner.
- Open the owner’s contact record and select Edit. Check the name and linked properties so you change the intended contact.
- In Status, select Inactive.
- Select Save and check the saved status.
Find the owner afterwards
Go to Contacts > Inactive to find the retained contact. Inactive owners are omitted from some normal selections; their associated records are not deleted by this status change.
To use the contact again, open the existing record and change Status to Active where the edit controls are available. Check its properties and payment details before resuming work rather than creating a duplicate owner.
Common questions
Has the property changed owners?
Use Change a property’s owner to handle the ownership change. Making the former contact inactive is a separate decision.
Does Inactive remove the owner’s access or invalidate shared links?
Do not rely on contact status alone to manage access. Contact support if owner-console access or a previously shared File Link must be withdrawn.
I cannot edit the status. What should I do?
Contact support with the owner reference and the change required. Keep the existing record so its history remains connected.
