Link properties that belong to the same owner so that released bookings are brought together under a parent property. Set up the owner links and fees carefully before using this arrangement.
How parent and child properties work
| Property | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Child | The property where the booking starts. When the booking is released, it is transferred to the linked parent. |
| Parent | The property used to bring the released bookings together and manage the group's invoices and property-level fees. |
Before you link properties
- Identify which property will be the parent and which will be its children.
- Check that the parent and children are linked to the same owner. If ownership needs to change, use the appropriate owner-link or change-of-owner process first.
- Review recurring fees on the children. Set the intended recurring fees on the parent and resolve duplicate child charges before using the arrangement.
Link a child to its parent
- Go to Properties > Active Properties.
- Open the property that will become the child and select Edit.
- Check the owner, then choose the intended property from Parent Property.
- Select Save, then open View Details and check that the correct parent is displayed.
- Repeat for each additional child property.
The parent list offers eligible properties associated with the owner. A property already set as a child is not offered as a parent. If the expected property is missing, check its owner and existing parent link.
Use the parent for group charges
Add the group's invoices and management fees to the parent property. Check the property selected whenever you enter a charge so it is not duplicated across the group.
Check the result
When a child booking is ready for the normal release process, check its property allocation after release and review the parent's booking and financial reports. Linking properties does not itself release a booking or send a bank payment.
