Agent commission depends on who receives the guest’s payment and who pays the agent. BookingTrust supports both arrangements.
When you receive the full booking amount
For a net-agent booking, the property manager receives the guest’s full payment and pays the agent’s commission after the guest departs, as with some Booking.com bookings. The commission is an owner expense. PMS-connected and standalone accounts can set agent commission through Global Fees. Set the fee as a percentage payable on Travel Agent. Contact support when setting this up, as a reference code is required. For Newbook, use the same reference code as in Newbook. BookingTrust calculates the commission and adds it to the property-manager ledger for payment to the trading account with management fees. The agent is then paid from trading.
If the agent commission is paid from the trust account, raise an invoice for the agent commission payable to the travel agent.
When the agent withholds commission
For a commission-agent booking, the agent deducts commission and sends you the net amount, as with HomeAway and Agoda. Record the amount actually received. A stand-alone account may record the net amount as the booking value and payment. Alternatively, when the booking is recorded at its full tariff, the difference can be represented by a Booking Credit.
Record the payment amount actually received so you can reconcile the trust-bank balance. For example, if the booking value is $1,000 and the agent retains $50, record the $950 received as Accommodation Payment Received and the $50 difference as Booking Credit. In the booking’s Payment Record, select Payment Received, choose Booking Credit from Transaction, enter the amount, and select Non Account under Bank Accounts because the credit is not a financial transaction. Save the record.
